Prior to arriving in Florida in 1997, Mr. Charlson worked as an attorney for the United States Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor (Chicago office), as well as for a mid-sized management-side labor and employment law firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He represented large and small employers in litigation, as well as counseled organizations on employment law compliance matters, including compliance audits, discrimination claims, employee discipline, recordkeeping, safety citations, layoffs, misconduct investigations and severance agreements.
In 1997, Mr. Charlson relocated to Tampa to join a management consulting firm as Vice President. He advised hundreds of Florida organizations on HR compliance and management practices. After assisting in the start up of a Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO) firm in 2004, he was hired as the Director of Human Resources/Risk Management at a public company in Tampa. He currently manages the human resource, safety, insurance and risk management functions at this company of 250+ employees.
Mr. Charlson also serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General Corps, 174th Legal Support Organization.
